If you’re retired and looking to downsize, cash in on your house, or just benefit from a senior community while maintaining the independence of home ownership, you may be considering retirement communities.

All retirement communities are different, and various factors should be taken into account.

For example, there are some retirement communities that are purely age based, in fact you don’t actually have to be retired. Others accept residents that have reached retirement age, but continue to work part-time.

Some have different rules on residency, for example, they may or may not allow a family member such as your adult child or grandchild to live with you.
