Remodeling Your Home: Anticipating Life after Retirement

While most people look forward to migrating towards warmer climates once they retire, a lot of people are choosing to stay in homes where they have lived a significant part of their life.  Retirement usually brings with it financial freedom from family-related obligations, because by this time, children have already grown up and moved out.  If you are one of those who were responsible enough to set aside funds, this period in your life is supposed to provide you with a chance to finally relax and take time for things you have always meant to do, like travel or gardening seriously.

By this time, the family structure has shifted from a child-centered unit back to just you and your spouse.  The family home that has withstood so many casualties from boisterous, growing children can finally take a break and is ready to be transformed to the stately, gracious home that you have always dreamed of.  Finally, you will be able to put in some light-colored carpeting like you have wanted to do, but never did because it showed dirt too readily.  You can also splurge on an Italian silk couch with no worries that someone wearing dirty shoes would climb up and jump on it after school.  You can choose furnishings that reflect mature tastes.
